Walk-In Freezer and Cooler Repair Before Product Is Lost
A walk-in holds more inventory than any other single piece of equipment in a kitchen or store, which makes it the most expensive thing in the building to lose. Walk-in freezer and cooler repair is priority work: the goal is to get the box back to holding temperature before the product inside crosses the line from chilled to discarded.
What Goes Wrong in a Walk-In
- Temperature drifting warm over hours or days
- Evaporator coil iced over so air cannot move through it
- Failed defrost timers, heaters, or termination sensors
- Refrigerant leaks reducing capacity
- Condenser coils packed with dust and unable to reject heat
- Condenser and evaporator fan motor failures
- Compressor failure and short cycling
- Door gaskets, sweeps, closers, and hinges that let warm air in
Doors and Gaskets Cause More Failures Than People Expect
A worn gasket or a door that no longer self-closes pulls warm humid air into the box continuously. The system responds by running longer, the coil ices faster, and the compressor works harder than it was built to. Plenty of calls that sound like a failing compressor start as a fifty dollar gasket problem, which is one reason a real diagnosis pays for itself.
What to Do While Waiting on a Technician
If a box is drifting warm, keep the door shut and stop restocking it. Move the most temperature-sensitive product to another unit if there is room, and write down the time the temperature started climbing, because that record matters for a health inspection and an insurance claim. Do not scrape ice off an evaporator coil with anything metal. Those steps buy real time and none of them make the repair harder.
Repair and Installation
We repair existing walk-in refrigeration and install new systems, including replacement condensing units and evaporators for boxes that are structurally fine but running on worn-out equipment. Controls and monitoring can be improved at the same time so the next temperature problem announces itself before the product is at risk.
Boxes that were assembled years ago are often mismatched with the equipment now on them, either because the original unit was replaced with whatever was available or because the box was extended without upsizing the refrigeration. Sizing the replacement to the actual box volume, door traffic, and product load is what keeps the next system from running continuously and still falling behind on a hot afternoon.
Emergency Response and Warranty
Calls are answered around the clock and emergency jobs carry no after-hours charge, since walk-ins rarely fail during business hours. Repairs and installations carry a one-year workmanship warranty. This is commercial refrigeration work; residential kitchen refrigerators and home freezers are outside what we service.
