AC Maintenance Plans That Prevent the Emergency Call
Almost every no-cool call we run had warning signs weeks earlier: a capacitor reading low, a coil packed with dirt, a drain starting to slow, a refrigerant charge quietly dropping. AC maintenance plans exist to catch those while they are still adjustments rather than breakdowns, and to keep the system running at the efficiency it was rated for.
What a Maintenance Visit Covers
- Refrigerant charge verified against operating conditions
- Capacitors, contactors, and motor amp draws measured against spec
- Condenser and evaporator coils inspected and cleaned as needed
- Condensate drain cleared and the overflow safety tested
- Blower wheel, filter, and airflow checked
- Electrical connections tightened and inspected for heat damage
- Thermostat calibration and staging confirmed
- Temperature split measured to confirm the system performs as it should
Two Visits a Year, Both Seasons
A plan includes two service and inspection visits per year: one before the cooling season begins and one before the heating season. Equipment that runs nearly year round accumulates wear faster than a system in a mild climate, and two visits catch problems in the season that will actually expose them. Plan customers also receive a ten percent discount on repair work.
What Maintenance Actually Changes
Three things. Efficiency, because a clean coil and correct charge cut the energy a system needs to hold temperature. Life expectancy, because motors and compressors fail early when they run hot, dirty, or undercharged. And predictability, because a component replaced during a scheduled visit costs less and interrupts nothing compared with the same part failing on the hottest afternoon of the year.
What a Maintenance Visit Will Not Do
Maintenance is not a warranty against failure, and we do not sell it that way. A capacitor can read fine in April and fail in June. What a plan changes is the odds and the cost: most parts give measurable warning, and catching them on a scheduled visit turns an emergency into a line item. Anything we find gets reported with the reading, not just marked as checked.
Who Benefits Most
Any system past its first few years, and any business where a cooling failure sends customers away. Commercial buildings with rooftop or package equipment gain the most from scheduled visits, since that equipment is out of sight and small problems go unnoticed until the space gets warm. Repairs done under a plan carry the same one-year workmanship warranty as all our work.
